My first Senior Session...

Okay, whoops...as I think about it now, I might have forgotten to mention that minor detail to him. But that is right...I have done Maternity, Newborn, Weddings, Families, Child, Engagement, but this was my first Senior Session. So I think I am going to post way to many pictures, but oh well. Tell me what you think?

Okay this next one is probably only funny to me, because he got a phone call during the session and it just seemed to so appropriate to me. I guess that is because we didn't have cell phones when I was in high school....wow, that makes me feel ancient!

Jingle Bell Rock

Well we have Thanksgiving right around the corner and I can already hear the Jingle Bell Rock in my head. I usually am overwhelmed by this point with all the things to do in preparation for the holidays. But this year has been special for me. Taking time out of my daily life to spend time with and photograph some of my favorite families, has been a blessing. It reminds me of what is important in life and I am truly enjoying it.

This family is no exception. This is my sister-in-law, a wonderful mother, and her sweet family. A special thanks to Miss K for her perfect modeling poses!

It is so fun to explore new places as a photographer... to find the beauty in a variety of things. I fell in love with the vibrant colors, the paint peeling, the rust that says, "this is old and loved". Okay, so I am not a poet but what I am trying to say is I loved this session with the trains! What makes it even better is that this famiily is fond of trains so we really did have a good time!

Family Slideshow

Gosh my "titles" are original! Well I had so much fun at this recent family photo shoot, which I already blogged my favs. But I can't upload all the fun pictures so I put together a slideshow. So when you book a family session with me, this is what you can expect. I like to have approximately two hours for a family session. I love to take photos of you interacting as a family. After awhile, little children will get really comfortable with the fact that I am there taking pictures and wow, they are still having a good time, it isn't torcherous. Little girls, little girls, everywhere I turn, I can see them...

I grew up in a family of 6 kids, 5 girls, and 1 brother, who is the youngest. He is an amazing young man despite the odds. But the house was pretty much ruled by little girls. We would often indulge in break out musical style performances which included songs from Annie, Mary Poppins, The Wizard of Oz and of course, The Sound of Music. My daughter has found her first indulgence in Annie so the songs are imbedded in my brain right now. I had the chance to take some headshots for this family of little girls as they pursue some modeling opportunities. Aren't they adorable???

These little angels were perfect in front of the camera and I really enjoyed getting to know each one of them. What an amazing family!

GRATEFUL

Today I am grateful. Though I voted for John McCain (generally agreeing with his policies) I am happy to see a nation in celebration. Regardless of the way you voted there is a sense of change. And the general feelings of happiness in the country are welcomed. Perhaps it will cause a bounce in the economy, a boost in the way the world views America. But my thoughts are really with Proposition 8. I voted YES on Proposition 8, which passed and I would like to share my feelings.

Today we are not excited, not jumping up and down. We are sad that some of our friends and neighbors feel as though we don't care about their feelings or that we think less of them than ourselves. This is certainly not the case. We hope that they will continue to fight for equality under their domestic partnerships. But we are GRATEFUL. We understand the consequences if this proposition didn't pass. We are protecting our religious freedom, protecting marriage, and our children. We understand that gender identity is crucial and has a purpose. We know that family is the fundamental unit of society. For life to continue, we must procreate, this can only be done by one man and one woman. And this should only be done by a lawfully wedded husband and wife. We have a long way to go in our battle to protect the sanctity of life, but today we are grateful.

So I'll leave you with a few images from my recent family session at Laguna Beach. The sunset was magnificent and I had a wonderful time with this exemplary family.

Pathetic

I am sadly posting for the third time today, HELLO, I need a life. But this this time no pretty pictures. I just quickly wanted to say thank you to all for the sweet compliments and emails I receive regarding my photography. Friends and strangers alike, I sincerly appreciate the kind words and motivation. Because this is my first year in business, it is hard to gauge where I feel I stand as a photographer. It is difficult for me not to compare myself to my inspiration photographers and feel, well...less than perfect. That being said, I am quickly embracing my own style and the passion I have for photography. So keep the comments coming, they keep me going! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
